Your home is drawn by the designer whose name is on the door. Alex Aguirre, principal designer and owner of PHX Interior Design, personally leads every residential drafting and design commission the studio accepts.
Alex comes from home construction, remodeling and restoration, so she draws the way a builder thinks: every wall, beam and detail is drawn knowing how it will be framed, finished and paid for. Your project gets her attention from first sketch to permit set.

The short version
- Who draws it: Alex Aguirre, principal designer and owner. Not a template, not an intake desk.
- Who it is for: homeowners, builders, architects, designers, engineers, developers and investors who want one accountable designer.
- What you get: permit-ready plan sets, site plans, 2D and 3D renderings, as-builts and stock plans.
- How fast: preliminary stock plan sets in one to two business days; standard sets in up to four weeks.
Why a principal-led studio is different
Here is what working directly with the designer means on your project:
- One designer, start to finish. The person who listens to you at the first meeting is the person who draws, revises and signs off your plans. Nothing is lost in a handoff.
- A builder's eye. Years in construction, remodeling and restoration mean drawings that can be priced and built without surprises on site.
- Design and drafting under one roof. The same studio that draws the structure can design the interior, so rooms, lighting, millwork and finishes are planned together instead of patched in afterward.

Drafter, architect or builder: who do you hire?
For a new home, a remodel or a restoration, you can choose from several kinds of professional. Each is best at something different.
- Architect. Licensed, with the broadest scope: design expertise plus project management. When a project needs one, Alex brings in the Phoenix, Cave Creek and North Scottsdale architects the studio works with.
- Drafter or residential designer. Specializes in accurate technical drawings built from your requirements. Strongest when the designer has built homes and knows how a plan becomes a structure. That is Alex's background.
- Contractor or design-builder. Builds. Contractors should build, because it is what they do best, and the studio works side by side with builders and remodelers.
For a custom home, the best choice is someone with a creative eye, hands-on building experience and a builder's working knowledge, who will also listen and guide you through the process. Between Alex and the architects she partners with, any size of residential project is covered.

From first idea to permit set
Alex uses computer-aided drafting, rendering and photo-quality software to produce plans and renderings that are accurate, appealing and ready to meet the permit requirements of your city or county. Every project follows the same path, and she is in the room for each step:
- The thought. You bring your wants, needs and budget.
- Conceptual design. A design that works best for you, your program and the site: surroundings, exterior views, regional climate, building codes and zoning.
- Design development. Space planning, structural elements, materials and finishes, plus 3D views of the preliminary design.
- Construction documents. Every plan the city or county requires, and everything your contractor needs to build.
- Construction administration (optional). Want the project overseen? Routine site visits, documentation, pay reviews and oversight of the bidding process.
Very happy how the render transformed beautifully into the real thing. Our exterior and interior traffic areas merge seamless.

Drawn for the desert
- Orientation. Which way windows, patios and garages face changes how a home lives through an Arizona afternoon. Alex plans placement during concept design, not after.
- The site. Slopes, terrain and views shape the footprint, and the plan is drawn around them.
- Local rules. Each city and county, and most HOAs, has its own submittal and review requirements. Plans are drawn to them from the start so the set is ready for your building department.

Why homeowners and builders choose Alex
- Customized solutions. Every blueprint is tailored to your vision and requirements, never pulled from a catalog and relabeled.
- Expert collaboration. Alex works hand in hand with our home builder partners so the build matches the drawings.
- Local expertise. Deep knowledge of Arizona's architectural landscape, and homes designed to thrive in the desert climate.
- End-to-end support. From drafting through construction, and on to interiors and installation when you want them, one studio stays with you.

FAQ

Who does the drafting at PHX Interior Design?
Alex Aguirre, principal designer and owner, leads every residential drafting and design project personally. The person you brief is the person who draws.
What is the difference between an architect and a residential designer?

When a project needs a licensed architect, the studio brings in the architects it works with in the Phoenix, Cave Creek and North Scottsdale area.
How long does it take to get plans?
Preliminary stock plan sets arrive in one to two business days and standard sets in up to four weeks. Custom timelines depend on the size and complexity of the home and are set at the first meeting.
